Dear AMMSA User,

A formatted copy of the Acceptance of Modern Myths About Sexual Aggression (AMMSA) scale is available to you through the University of Bielefeld Social Psychology Lab page. There are three versions of the scale: in English, German, and Spanish. Details regarding the development, content, and purpose of the scale, as well as its psychometric properties, are reported in the following article. (Download manuscript  / Journal web site)

Gerger, H., Kley, H., Bohner, G., & Siebler, F. (2007). The Acceptance of Modern Myths About Sexual Aggression (AMMSA) scale: Development and validation in German and English. Aggressive Behavior, 33, 422-440.

The following notes provide some guidance in your use and scoring of the measure.

1. You are free to use the AMMSA scale for research purposes. The authors request, however, that you include a reference to the above-mentioned article by Gerger et al. (2007) in any presentation or publication resulting from the use of the AMMSA scale.
2. When using the scale, please follow applicable research ethics guidelines and established procedures of gaining ethical approval at your institution. The authors decline any reponsibility for consequences resulting from inappropriate use of the scale by others.
3.   All items are positively-scored (i.e., there is no reverse-scoring to do). Total scores result from computing the arithmetic mean of item scores across all 30 items, and thus can range from 1 to 7. Higher scores indicate a greater acceptance of modern myths about sexual aggression.
