The refugee outpatient clinic for children and adolescents is aimed at Unaccompanied Refugee Minors and young unaccompanied adults in Bielefeld. We are offering psychological counselling with an approximate duration of 7 sessions. Our goal is to provide low-level care for burdened adolescents and to activate their own coping strategies. Topics during counselling may include:

  • Recurring memories and flashbacks
  • Depression
  • Sleep problems
  • Anxieties
  • Impulse control issues

Adolescents do not have to talk about their story or reason of fleeing their home county during counselling. However they are welcome to do so if they wish to. Our counselling is completely confidential. Generally caregivers call us to register those in need for our counselling. The first appointment is usually accompanied by a caregiver and further appointments are attended by the adolescent alone. Counselling is offered in easy language (German or English) and almost never an interpreter is needed. If the young adult speaks German/English on a level lower than A1 an interpreters can accompany the adolescents to the appointments.

Counselling sessions require a prior telephone contact. If you have any questions or if you want to sign someone up for our program, you are welcome to contact us:
