Language of instruction: French. The minimum desirable level of proficiency in French is B2 following the Common European Frame of Reference. EHESS Paris requires official proof that specifies the level of French proficiency at the time of enrollment. There are no courses offered in English.

General information: Founded in 1947, the École des Hautes Etudes de Sciences Sociales (EHESS) in Paris is a comparably young university that is exclusively dedicated to teaching and research in the social sciences and was inspired by the spirit of the1960/70s. The institute is one of four locations in the country. The education at EHESS in Paris offers a comprehensive, fundamental and methodological foundation with possibilities to specialize in 23 different areas that are spread among a variety of interrelated disciplines such as anthropology, political sciences, sociology, history, theology linguistics, arts, and others. In this way, the university creates an interdisciplinary study environment that offers students a wide range of possibilities to choose from and elaborate their study plan according to their individual interests.

The CADIS offers a great variety of study programmes in the area of social sciences and its neighbour disciplines of anthropology, cultural sciences, political sciences, economy and demography. Study terms: The winter term starts regularly at the end of October and ends in February/March. The summer term starts regularly at the end of February/March and ends at the end of May.
Other information: The University offers support services such as language courses and orientation days or a welcome guide for international students. Accommodation is administrated in France by CROUS (Centre Régional des œuvres universitaires et scolaires), and the University offers advice to successfully find accommodation.
