Language of instruction: English, however the majority of courses are given in Polish. There are courses in English and single courses in other languages (German, French, Russian). The desirable level of English is at least B1 following the Common European Frame of Reference (CEFR).

General information: Krakow is the second largest city in Poland. Located in the south, it is one of the oldest cities in the country. Not only is it an important trading hub and a dynamic metropolis, but also a scientific center of international reputation and about one quarter of the population are students. The AGH University is the leading institution in the subject of new technologies. It was founded in 1919 and now has about 36,000 students within 15 Faculties. The AGH campus is the biggest campus in the city, and every faculty as well as the city center are within walking distance from the student´s halls of residence. The Faculty of Humanities was founded in 2001 with the objective to research changing social and economic conditions caused by globalization and development, as well as changes caused by technological progress. The Faculty’s mission was designed to educate modern specialists by combining social knowledge with expertise in applications of new information and communication technologies found in various areas of public life and business activity.

The syllabus of all study programmes with detailed course descriptions are available online. The interdisciplinary course offering is comprised not only of topics in sociology but also philosophy, social ethics, psychology, analysis of globalization, as well as social and economic processes in Poland. Many issues are related to media sciences, public relations, and multimedia technology. Students have the opportunity to receive introductory courses in computer science, database development, multimedia, graphic design or soundtechnology. There are also many electives available. The cultural studies focus is heavily related to aspects of cultural communication, and is also closely related to courses in media sciences, anthropology, public relations, interpretations of cultural communication and intercultural communication. English course offerings and guest lectureships complete the international profile of the AGH education. The University offers students an online-course finder that contains all international courses from every faculty.
Study terms: The winter semester starts regularly at the beginning of October and ends at the end of February. The summer semester starts regularly at the end of February and ends in June. Exams are held respectively in February and in June/July.
Other information: The University guides students to find accommodation and offers Polish language courses. Krakow has an active Erasmus+ student network (ESN) that organizes events and activities for international students on a regular basis.
