Applicants have a completed university degree in computer science and a qualified and relevant Ph.D. in computer science. They have a strong research profile in the following areas:
Applicants have an outstanding track record in the research field of technical cognition systems with a special focus on multimodal social interaction. You have extensive experience in the development of technical cognition systems that combine gesture with conversational language for multimodal social interaction, as well as extensive expertise in modelling embodied agents with complex cognitive interaction capabilities.
We also expect a strong track record in the acquisition and implementation of third-party funded projects (e.g. EU, DFG, BMBF). Experience (also in a leading position) in collaborative research (SFB, EXC) will create an advantage.
As a professor, you represent the topic of "Social Interaction Technology" in research and teaching. You also cooperate with the other research groups of the Faculty of Technology, in particular with research groups in the area of Intelligent Systems and at the Center for Cognitive Interaction Technology (CITEC).
Using the rich opportunities for interdisciplinary research cooperation available within Bielefeld University, your projects will contribute to strengthening existing interdisciplinary cooperation within the University, such as between informatics and linguistics, or informatics and psychology.
The Faculty of Technology is currently participating in various interdisciplinary collaborative projects such as the Collaborative Research Centre / Transregio 318 Constructing Explainability with the University of Paderborn. Participation in these collaborative projects as well as in application initiatives within the German Excellence Strategy is expected from the position holder.
Participation in the Faculty’s Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes, in particular the Bachelor’s programme in Cognitive Informatics and the Master’s programme in Intelligent Systems, is also expected. In particular, participation in foundational courses on cognitive technical systems, multimodal interaction and Bayesian methods and reasoning under uncertainty is expected. Active participation in the self-administration of the Faculty of Technology is expected.
