15 June 2023

The Bielefeld open-air festival is considered the largest campus party in Germany and its varied programme is aimed at all fans of strong live music. After an enforced break due to the pandemic, it was finally possible to dance and party again on the Campus Bielefeld in 2022. Now the first artists for the 2023 line-up have been confirmed!

For more information on the programme and ticket sales, visit www.campusfestival-bielefeld.de.

Courses and Campus Festival

Given the magnitude of the event, the preparation and realisation will not be without consequences for university operations. Especially on 14.6. and 15.6. there may be temporary noise nuisance in the rooms adjacent to the festival grounds during set-up and sound checks. After the positive experiences of the last few years and the aim of continuing to cancel as few courses as possible, there will not be a fundamentally lecture-free afternoon. In the areas that do not border the festival grounds, teaching is possible all day. However, the seminar rooms and Lecture Halls adjacent to the festival grounds will no longer be available after 4 pm. If it is not possible to relocate to another room, the affected events will have to be cancelled.

Entrances and exits to the main university building and Building X

On festival day, as in previous years, Building X will be closed from 2pm. There will be security service controls, this will also affect the library. After 2 p.m., the building can only be left through the exit to the Social Field at the end of the Magistrale. The departmental libraries in Building X will close at 3.00 pm. In the main university building (UHG), the entrances and exits in teeth D, E and F as well as between these teeth will also be closed from 2pm. The Main Entrance and all other [SHM1] entrances and exits of the UHG can be used regularly. Of course, the closed doors are also available as emergency exits in case of emergency.

Parking spaces for cars and bicycles

The underground car park of Building X and the parking spaces in front of Building X will be closed as early as Wednesday, 14 June from 10.00 pm. These parking spaces will be available again from 6.00 a.m. on Friday, 16 June. Car park 3 will also be closed on the day of the event from 6.00 a.m. to midnight (exit is possible until 1.30 p.m.). Car park 1 will also remain closed. Parts of the car park at Cebitec (Building G) will already be closed on Saturday, 10 June. Further parking bays at Building G will additionally be unavailable from Tuesday, 13 June.

On 15 June, the event site will be cordoned off by an opaque fence from 1.30 pm. A large number of the bicycle stands will then be on the grounds. This affects the bicycle racks in front of Building X, between teeth D and E, and teeth E and F. The bicycles must be removed by Wednesday evening, 14 June. Important: They will no longer be accessible afterwards! And: Bicycles that are on the event grounds on Thursday and pose a safety problem there will be removed for a fee. The university assumes no liability for these bicycles. If your bike has been removed for the above reasons, please email info@campusfestival-bielefeld.de for clarification on bike return.

It is recommended to come to the University by tram or bus on the day of the festival if possible. The trams will run at the following intervals on the day of the event:

→ 5-minute intervals between approx. 15.00 and approx. 18.30
→ 10-minute intervals between 18.30 and 19.30
→ 15-minute intervals between 19.30 and 22.00
→ 10-minute intervals between 22.00 and 23.00
The last tram towards the city centre leaves at 1.09.

Security

After consultation with the regulatory authorities, bags, backpacks and other items of luggage larger than DIN A4 are not permitted at the Campus Festival this year either. Furthermore, as in previous years, no glass bottles, beverage cans, plastic beverage bottles, Tetra Paks over 0.5l, pyrotechnical objects, weapons or weapon-like objects, chairs and objects that serve to elevate the stand position, food, professional photo and video equipment, sound recorders, drones and laser pointers are allowed on the festival grounds.

Disruption due to music

The festival will cause disruptions. On the one hand, this concerns the restrictions described above. The stage programme starts at 3.30 pm. By then at the latest, there will also be breakdowns caused by the music. Sound checks will already take place beforehand. This will primarily affect the areas of the university bordering the event grounds. We hope for your understanding.

Closed roads

On the evening before the event (Wednesday, 14 June, from 10 p.m.), the street "Vermittlung" (between Building X and multi-storey car park 3) will be closed. Universitätsstraße will thus become a dead end. The bus stop in Universitätsstraße will be moved to the experience at the level of the light rail stop for the whole day on Thursday, 15 June.
