Experimental Research in Management SoSe 2019

Tuesday 10-12 am, weekly form the 2nd of April 2019

Description

In this course, doctoral students familiarize with experimental research in Management. Hereby, the objective of the class is twofold: First, doctoral students acquire the knowledge and competence to design and conduct experiments. Second, students apply their knowledge to interpret results and critically discuss experimental research of other scholars.

To achieve these objectives, this class equips students with relevant experimental research methods. Students discuss the concept of causality, differentiate between internal and external validity, and get to know different classes of experiments (e.g., laboratory versus field experiments). Based on this knowledge, doctoral students design an experiment on a research topic of their choice, which is presented and discussed in class. In order to enhance their competence to develop and critically assess experimental research, students read and review published articles from different Management disciplines applying experiments to address a current research question.
