Setting up WLAN under Android

To get all necessary and current configuration settings directly preset, we recommend the eduroam tool CAT or, from Android 11, geteduroam. Otherwise, this manual can be used for manual configuration.

Note:
Terms and menus may differ from these instructions depending on the Android version and device.

Step 1: Install certificate

1.

In the first step, the root certificate "USERTrust RSA Certification Authority" must be installed on the corresponding device. The following link must be called up on the Android device:
https://www.uni-bielefeld.de/einrichtungen/bits/downloads-anleitungen/USERTrust-RSA-Certification-Authority.crt

2.

In the Android settings , switch to certificate installation (e.g. via Security > Other security settings > Encryption & credentials > Install a certificate").

Select the WLAN certificate there.

3.

Open the downloaded file USERTrust-RSA-Certification-Authority_.crt.

4.

The certificate must then be named.

Certificate name:
-> USERTrust RSA Certification Authority

Click OK to complete the installation.

Step 2: Configure WLAN

1.

First open the settings for WLAN via "Settings > Wireless and networks > WLAN".

2.

WLAN must first be activated so that the available networks are displayed.

The connection to the campus network is made via the network "eduroam". After selecting this entry, the following configuration window appears.

3.

These settings must be made.

Security:
-> WPA/WPA2-Enterprise

EAP method:
-> PEAP

Phase 2 authentication:
-> MSCHAPV2

Domain:
-> uni-bielefeld.de

Identity:
-> BITS-Loginname@uni-bielefeld.de

Anonymous identity:
-> anonymous@uni-bielefeld.de

Password:
-> BITS-Password (Net password)

Then confirm by clicking on "Connect / Save".

An attempt is made to establish a connection directly.
