Main Goals of the Research Project:
- Deepen understanding of e-justice implementation as an important part of strengthening access to justice, the rule of law and human rights protection in Kyrgyzstan
- Study the EU’s contribution to the development of e-justice in Kyrgyzstan
- Examine how e-justice implementation can strengthen access to justice for women in Kyrgyzstan
- Develop policy recommendations.
Short Description of the Research Project
The aim of the research project is to examine the implementation of e-justice as a tool of judicial reform aimed at strengthening the rule of law and human rights protection in Kyrgyzstan. It examines how e-justice can contribute to improved access to justice. Attention is focused mainly on various e-justice procedural aspects in constitutional, civil, criminal and administrative proceedings. The project analyzes the application of European best practices of e-justice in Kyrgyzstan. In addition, a complex legal analysis is provided of the extent to which e-justice contributes to the protection of particular human rights, such as the rights to a fair trial, effective remedy and privacy, as well as to the strengthening of women’s access to justice. Particular attention will also be given to the EU’s engagement in e-justice implementation.
