The ZAB offers comprehensive expertise in accessible software development and data visualisation - for web, app and desktop applications. This offer is aimed at all members of Bielefeld University and can be used in research projects, teaching and administrative projects. The aim is to create digital solutions that are accessible to all people and strengthen the standard for barrier-free development at the university in the long term.
The ZAB supports the entire development process with specialist expertise and practical resources. It supports the planning and implementation of accessible applications and helps to make digital products inclusive right from the start. The ZAB is also on hand to provide advice in the early project phases - for example during conceptualisation, when developing project ideas or when submitting applications for funding projects. This creates a solid foundation on which accessible digital solutions can be efficiently developed.
In addition, the ZAB provides technical staff and specialised infrastructure to support development processes. Specialist advice on the sustainable implementation of digital accessibility is also included. This includes the selection of suitable technologies, the barrier-free design of user interfaces and ensuring accessible data visualisation.
The Bielefeld Barrier-free Collection of Laws (BBG) - a project developed in collaboration with the Chair of Public Law - shows what successful cooperation can look like. It is an example of the ZAB's collaborative approach and illustrates how innovative and accessible solutions can be developed at Bielefeld University.
