Faculty of Technology

The Faculty of Technology comprises the fields of Computer Science and Biotechnology, with a specific profile of the former focusing on Bioinformatics/Computer Science in the Natural Sciences as well as Intelligent Interactive Systems/Artificial Intelligence.

The Faculty was founded in 1990 as result of efforts to add an application-oriented technological profile to Bielefeld University. From the outset, our highly interdisciplinary approach has allowed us to do top-level teaching and innovative research at the interface of technology, life sciences, and mathematics.

This strength is reflected in major research centers for Cognitive Interaction Technology (CITEC), Biotechnology (CeBiTec), Cognition and Robotics (CoR-Lab), or Mathematical Modeling (RCM²). Anchored in these centers, we offer attractive Bachelor and Master Degrees or Ph.D. Programmes combining solid scientific fundamentals with leading-edge research and societally important applications.
