Farell Keiser wins Best Student Paper Award
Farell Keiser, a student at Gymnasium Leopoldinum in Detmold and a participant in Bielefeld University’s “Studieren ab 15” program, has received the Best Student Paper Award at the international SPIE Photonics Europe conference, held in Strasbourg, France, from 12 to 16 April 2026. For the past three years, Farell has conducted research in the Terahertz Physics group led by Prof. Dmitry Turchinovich. His achievement is particularly remarkable because this competitive award is typically won by experienced doctoral researchers.
EXIST - Research Transfer Project for Spin-offs
Dr Henning Ortkrass, as team leader, has secured funding for an EXIST research transfer project from the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy. The project, which has received funding of approximately 1.15 million, will run for 18 months and aims to develop prototypes of a novel super-resolution microscope for the planned spin-off start-up and to test them in practical applications. The innovative microscope stands out due to its extremely compact dimensions and a very wide range of imaging modalities, which make this system a universal solution for research questions in biomedicine, pharmacy and basic research.
