MA Linguistics

We focus on the formal and data-driven modeling of natural language and interaction. Students learn the theoretical foundations and empirical methods of current techniques for language processing to address linguistic and application-oriented questions.
Analyze and model linguistic phenomena (spoken, written, multimodal) using computational linguistics
Theoretical foundations of current computational linguistic methods such as language models (LLMs), deep learning, and probabilistic modeling
Program and implement natural language processing applications (e.g., chatbots, information extraction, sentiment analysis, hate speech detection, etc.)
Gain insights into current research topics in computational linguistics, such as natural language generation, dialogue modeling, linguistic interaction with machines, computational pragmatics, speech synthesis, processing of multimodal data, small language models, etc.
Develop a critical approach to language technology applications
