The Meta Quest is a series of stand-alone virtual reality glasses by Meta that are characterised by their inside-out tracking and intuitive usability. They can be used wirelessly and enable hand and gesture recognition as well as control via controllers.
We use various models from the series in our work, including the Meta Quest 2, Meta Quest 3 and Meta Quest Pro. The greatest strength of the Meta Quest is its ease of use - it works straight out of the box without external tracking or complex set-up. This makes it a flexible solution for immersive applications.
Compared to PC-based VR systems, the Meta Quest has a lower computing power, which limits the visual quality. Nevertheless, its self-sufficient design makes it particularly practical for mobile and everyday applications. In our projects, we use it primarily for interactive simulations and immersive training scenarios in the healthcare sector.
