The CITEC Graduate School was founded in 2008 as a central part of the Cluster of Excellence. It is meant to forster interdisciplinary exchange among peers and beyond, and to provide the necessary environment and structures for PhD students from different disciplines to pursue an advanced academic qualification in the field of Cognitive Interaction Technology at Bielefeld University. The Graduate School coordinates with the participating Faculties respective programmes, such as the MSc "Intelligent Interactive Systems", the MSc "Intelligent & Motion", or the PhD programme "Intelligent Systems".

How do I become a member?
Doctoral researchers, financed from third party funding which is managed within CITEC are members of the Graduate School. Other doctoral researchers at CITEC can become member upon application.

Supervision
The Graduate School encourages interdisciplinary scientific working. To that end, PhD candidates can seek regular advice by a team of CITEC reseachers from different disciplines. Such a thesis team meets once a year to evaluate the progress and provides feedback on on how to proceed with the research work. To ensure the best possible supervision during the doctoral phase, the CITEC Graduate School supports doctoral researchers and their supervisors to sign a supervising agreement, as recommended by the German Research Foundation.
