Completed projects

The mentoring program Ment4you pursued the goal of strengthening migrant student teachers on their way to graduation by focusing on linguistic and cultural heterogeneity as a resource in their professional biographical development. Student mentors organized events and workshops on the topics of interculturality and multilingualism as well as various exchange formats in cooperation with the network of migrant teachers. In this way, Ment4you aimed to counteract the imbalance that can be found in many schools: On the part of the pupils, a high level of linguistic and cultural heterogeneity can be found in many schools - however, there are relatively few teachers who have their own multicultural and multilingual experience.
Ment4you was offered from 2016 to 2020 and will be offered from 2021 with a new concept under the name DiversiTEACH by BiSEd.

As part of the occupational practice studies on the "Promotion of Refugees in School and Extracurricular Departments ", student teachers were able to promote School Pupils in Welcome Classes or International Preparatory Classes or support them in integrating into regular classes on a case-by-case basis. In addition, they had the opportunity to design and implement language support programs in extracurricular institutions.

The theory-in-practice course was assigned to the internationalization format of the occupational practice studies and was aimed at student teachers of all subjects and teacher training programs of the 2011 study model.

At the symposium "Studentische Auslandsmobilität erhöhen! - Social Diversity and the Teaching Profession as Challenge and Opportunity" (June 19-20, 2017 in Essen, Germany), the DAAD attempted to explore the reasons, obstacles, and opportunities of study abroad in order to make it accessible to more students.

In the run-up to the symposia, there was also the opportunity to post field reports on an online platform and contribute your own stories and opinions there.

You can get an insight into the symposia here.
