To access the various computing services, a number of accounts are needed, which come from different providers. Roughly, they can be grouped as follows:
The Linux account of the faculty of mathematics gives access to the Linux desktops and all other computing services of the faculty. This includes everything in the zone math.uni-bielefeld.de, in particular:
The creation of Linux accounts for employees and guests is arranged by the secretariats. Instructors needing accounts for all participants of a class are requested to arrange for a bulk order - please contact root sufficiently in advance. Students of the faculty may also get a Linux account from root (please provide your matriculation number).
Accounts for services provided by BITS are managed in the PRISMA portal. For students and employees, a prisma account is created automatically, and equipped with accounts for a number of standard services, including:
Further, in the PRISMA portal you can order your UniCard. For the inital loging to PRISMA, a link is usually sent to you. You can then set further passwords in PRISMA. If necessary, root can also set a new PRISMA password for you.
If you need a PRISMA account as a guest scientist, please contact root.
Students and employees are automatically provided with an eKVV / BIS / PEVZ account, to which you can log in with your matriculation number / UniID / BITS-UserID and the web password as access data.
Some of these services, in particular those for instructors, require a BIS account with extended rights. For those you need, in addition to the PRISMA account, also a corresponding entry in the PEVZ directory, including your email address. This is usually arranged for by your secretariat.
If necessary, external employees and guests can obtain a PRISMA account from root, and then a PEVZ entry via your secretariat.
