Families wanted!

New study on challenges in young families

Did you take part in the Duisburg crime survey? Then we have sent you another cover letter!

As a result of the Duisburg crime survey, new interesting research questions have emerged that could apply to some staff, people. A study on the topic of "Challenges in young families" is being sponsored by the German Research Foundation and is now to be carried out.

As we have no link between your information in the questionnaires and your name, we know that many of our participants have already started a family, but we do not know who this is. For this reason, as a first step, we are looking for staff, people who have at least one child. We have sent out a short questionnaire for this purpose and would be delighted if you would complete it and return it to us.

We would be delighted if you would take part in the surveys. Your participation is very important for the success of the studies.

What will the new study be about?

You are now over thirty years old and most of you have been taking part in our study since you were thirteen. A lot has changed since then: You have learnt an appointment and perhaps started your own family by now. The family is the space in which many important attitudes, behavioural patterns and values are conveyed. We would like to send you a questionnaire at the beginning of next year to find out more about the challenges young families face on a daily basis. As usual, the questionnaire will focus on your appointments and leisure activities, but will also cover your family situation. As usual, you will receive an expense allowance of €25 for completing the questionnaire.

In addition, we would like to carry out a neurobiological examination in the coming year, in which you can participate together with your eldest child. The aim of this is to investigate the basics of parental behaviour by examining similarities between you and your child in terms of behaviour, cognitive and neurobiological functions. Further information on the neurobiological examination can be obtained from our cooperation partners at the University Hospital of RWTH Aachen here.

Would you like to take part?

  1. Please read the cover letter sent to you at your leisure. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
  2. Please answer the questions on the enclosed short questionnaire (page 3).
  3. Please also fill in the code on the reverse (page 4).
  4. Please enter your current address on the address card.
