ZiF Workshop

Distrust. Interdisciplinary, theoretical, methodical and empirical approaches to perception and practice

Date: 27 - 28 August 2015
Convenor: Olga Galanova

The conference set out to reestablish mistrust as distinct phenomenon and topic for the social sciences. By discussing various empirical forms and implementations of mistrust rather than abstract reasoning and conceptual definition the conference highlighted the self-reproductive and self-enforcing tendency of mistrust, the ways and mechanisms of its containment and control as well as the productive epistemic features of mistrust for diverse professional practices. It especially made clear that its phenomenal fuzziness provides mistrust with a remarkable conceptual openness and richness useful for further investigation.
