Place application practical semester with preparatory training

The allocation of internships in the Bielefeld training region is carried out centrally by the BiSEd internship placement office in the web portal for the allocation of places in the practical semester with preparatory training (PVP). All schools offering internships in the current cycle are listed here.

Place application for the practical semester Start date September 2023: 03.04.-14.04.2023

The application for a place is only possible in the above-mentioned period!

The registration is binding!

Prerequisite for the registration in the web portal or the application for a place is, among other things, the change of programme to the M.Ed. program.

Attention: The practical semester with preparatory training September 2023 already starts on 28.08.2023!

1. you register in the web portal for the allocation of places in the practical semester (PVP) with your BITS user name and the corresponding password .

2. you complete your data regarding your degree programme, your field of study (type of school) and enter your subjects or subjects of study.

Attention: Basic Mathematics and Basic Language Training appear as one subject.

Attention ElementarySchool ISP and HRGe ISP: You also enter the school characteristic Common Learning ISP. 3.

3. you enter the schools that you have visited yourself as a pupil. You may not complete your practical semester with preparatory training at these schools!

4. on the basis of this data, you will be displayed all the schools in the training region of Bielefeld that come into question for you, based on the seminar capacities available in PVP.

5. you choose up to five schools within different regional classes and prioritize your selection. This gives you the opportunity to influence the location of your internship school. However, it is not possible, for example, to select only schools in Bielefeld. As a rule, several regional classes must always be taken into account. Regional classes result from the accessibility of a school by public transport from the Bielefeld Main Station.

6. additionally you have to define a location point (e.g. place of residence of parents, girlfriend, sister etc.), which will be taken into account if none of your selected pupils could be assigned. You will then be assigned a spot at a school that is considered for you and is as close as possible to your location point.

7. approximately 2 months before the start date of the practical semester with preparatory training (mid-December or mid-June) you will be informed at which school you will carry out the school practical part.

Here, at the start date of the place application, you will find click instructions for registration in the web portal for place allocation in the practical semester with preparatory training (PVP), which will guide you step by step through the individual steps.

Special circumstances within the meaning of § 13 para. 3 no. 2 MPO Ed will be taken into account as far as possible when allocating places. For this purpose, you can obtain a hardship ruling.

For all cases of hardship, the regional class regulations will then be overridden when the school wish list is drawn up and you will be assigned in advance in a separate distribution round. In this way, it can usually be guaranteed that you will receive one of the schools of your choice in the procedure.

Cases of hardship/hardship case, as defined in Section 13(3)(2) of the MPO Ed, exist in the case of:

  • proven pregnancy or supervision of a minor child
  • proven special circumstances in the form of the care of a spouse, registered partner, relative in the direct line or first-degree relative by marriage, if the latter is in need of care or support.
  • proven limitations due to disability or serious, chronic illness that have to be taken into account for the journey to the place of learning or the performance of the school practical part.

How are cases of hardship/hardship cases reported?

  • You complete the hardship application in its entirety and gather the required supporting documentation.
  • You hand in the application including the evidence to the BiSEd internship office, room L5-107, during office hours Mon-Fri from 10-12. For Corona reasons, the current submission is only possible by e-mail (proofs as scans) to the functional address: praxissemester@uni-bielefeld.de.
  • You register in the online portal for the allocation of places in the practical semester, but do not yet finalize your wish list if the system prevents you from adding your desired schools to the wish list with reference to the regional classes.
  • After reviewing your application, we will inform you by mail. You can then finalize your wish list if necessary.

Please note that the application including the required evidence for the place allocation procedure for the practical semester with preparatory training start date September 2023 must be received by 06.04.2023. If the application has not been received by then, you will not be able to participate in the hardship procedure.

The extended certificate of good conduct is a prerequisite for the practical semester with preparatory training (cf. § 12 para. 4 LABG). It must be submitted to the ZfsL responsible for you no later than the start date of the practical semester with preparatory training. You must apply for the extended certificate of good conduct in good time - at the latest six weeks before the start of the practical semester with preparatory training - at your local residents' registration office. It will then be automatically sent to the ZfsL responsible for you. It serves to exclude possible previous convictions, especially sexual and abuse offenses.

Staff, people with several citizenships (EU member states) must apply for a so-called European certificate of good conduct. This contains, in addition to the German certificate of good conduct, the notification of entries in the criminal record of the Member State of origin in the language transmitted, provided that the Member State of origin provides for transmission in accordance with its law. Longer processing times may apply here, so that an application must be submitted immediately after the school assignment.

Procedure for timely application

Automatic request

When you are assigned to a school via PVP, you will automatically receive a PDF file containing a written request from the relevant ZfsL to apply for a certificate of good conduct.

Completion of the data

You complete your personal data on the letter from the ZfsL and print it out. If you have any queries, you can contact the relevant ZfsL directly using the PVP message function.

Submitting the letter to the registration office

Submit the letter of request in person and immediately after receiving the school assignment to your respective Residents' Registration Office. You will receive a receipt.

Important: Be sure to keep this receipt. It serves as proof of the timely application.

A processing time of four to six weeks is expected.

Automatic dispatch to the ZfsL

The extended certificate of good conduct is automatically sent to the ZfsL responsible for you and checked there. You do not need to take any further action.

Please alsonote:

The fees for the extended certificate of good conduct amount to approximately 13 euros. They will not be refunded. BAföG recipients will be exempt from the fees upon presentation of the sponsorship decision. More information is available on the information sheet on the charging of fees for the certificate of good conduct.

If the certificate of good conduct is not applied for in time - at least 6 weeks before the start of the respective practical semester - and the document is not available at the ZfsL at the start date of the practical semester, you will not be able to start the practical semester.

The Detmold district government compiles a list of the associated schools for the respective practical semester with preparatory training and assigns them to the corresponding seminars of the ZfsL. Schools within the jurisdiction of the ZfsL Bielefeld and Minden are available for the practical semester with preparatory training at Bielefeld University.

The ZfsL Bielefeld trains in the practical semester with preparatory training for the

  • Elementary school (with and without ISP)
  • Secondary and comprehensive school (with and without ISP)
  • Teacher training for grammar school and comprehensive school

The ZfsL Minden trains in the practical semester with preparatory training for

  • Elementary school (with and without ISP)
  • Teacher training for grammar school and comprehensive school

Which schools you can choose from in PVP depends, among other things, on the characteristics of the school and the seminar capacities of the ZfsL.

A list of schools with the corresponding ZfsL can be found here. Please note: The schools are newly provided by the district government for each practical semester. The list is therefore only exemplary!
