Student Assistant (studentische Hilfskraft) with very good or excellent proficiency in English
The Public History Unit (Arbeitsbereich Public History) is seeking to appoint a student assistant (6 hours/week) starting on 1 March 2026. The student assistant is expected to work under the supervision of Prof. Kornelia Kończal in the EU-funded project lexi.eco: — Concepts in Contexts. The position is initially limited to six months, with the prospect of extension subject to project needs and performance. Job interviews will take place on 12 and 13 January 2026.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the coordination of the lexi.eco project team
- Data management, including preparing, editing, and maintaining the flow of information in project-related cloud systems
- Internal and external communication in English
- Organising online and hybrid meetings (setting up Zoom links, sending invitations, preparing agendas, distributing materials, and taking minutes)
- Support in the organisation of a Blended Intensive Programme in early October 2026
Your essential qualifications:
- Current enrolment at Bielefeld University
- Excellent (or very good) command of English
- A well-organised and reliable working style
- Confident handling of online communication
- Basic experience with Google Workspace, or willingness to acquire it promptly
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Your optional qualifications:
- Historical imagination and/or interest in the humanities
- Familiarity with the history of concepts and/or the history of ideas
- Interest in digital history
- Command of additional European languages
