Assessment and further development of Dona, a donation platform for social data
Social interactions and embeddedness are an important factor for our physical and mental health. However, research on social networks is hampered by the laborious task of data collection. We are taking advantage of the widespread use of online interactions by developing a platform, where people could donate their social media data for safe and anonymous analysis. This tool would allow us to study how interaction patterns in an egocentric network correlate with certain characteristics, such as social embeddedness, psychological conditions, or environmental factors, such as collective trauma.
Importantly, as a reward for their donation, study participants receive personalized feedback on their messaging behavior in the form of intuitive visualizations
