The RTG 2951 Lecture Series welcomes Gracia Liu Farrer (Waseda University) for a lecture titled “The Politics of Labor: Contested Governance of the Indonesia–Japan Transnational Labor Market.”
In this episode of the RTG 2951 Podcast, host and associated doctoral researcher Ardita Osmani talks with First Cohort Doctoral Researchers Benedikt Heckens, Karim Ashour, and Mariana Gomes about their research methodologies, fieldwork experiences, and their journey in the Research Training Group.
When I submitted my abstracts to the 23rd IMISCOE Annual Conference in 2025, I was working as a research associate in India. By the time I arrived in Girona, I was introducing myself as a doctoral researcher in the RTG 2951 “Cross-Border Labour Markets” at Bielefeld University—a sentence I had rehearsed more than once, given that I had started in this new role only three months earlier. This year's conference thus marked a personal transition as much as an academic one. It was my first major conference as a doctoral researcher, and the shift in perspective was as significant as the change in affiliation.
