The contact point in the Faculty of Sociology for applications for recognition:
If you have any questions when processing the application, please contact the student counselling service or the responsible staff member in the examination office. Questions regarding content, e.g. whether a completed course is suitable for a module, can be addressed to Prof. Dr Sonja Blum.
Please use the online input help to create the application. The completed and printed application must be submitted to the administrative staff in the examinations office together with the certificates of achievement and the table with the achievements must be sent by email to the relevant administrative office. If you have completed courses at other universities, please enclose explanatory documents on the type and content of the courses and modules (programme-related examination regulations, module handbook; if necessary, further documents such as programme description, course catalogue, course comments, etc.). You will be notified once your application has been processed. We will endeavour to process your application as quickly as possible. The processing time for applications for recognition is usually up to six weeks.
In order to ensure that applications for recognition are processed on time (this applies, among other things, to those changing universities and degree programmes), the application for recognition and all other necessary documents must be received by the examination office digitally in the form of a signed pdf document by 15 February (for the summer semester) or 15 August (for the winter semester) at the latest. If necessary, the submission of an original may be requested. However, the timely processing does not include the booking of the services in the examination management. The student office will ensure that the notice of classification for the transfer is handed out in good time.
The deadline for transferring for internal transfer students (students already enrolled at Bielefeld University) is 15 May for the summer semester and 15 November for the winter semester.
The deadline for enrolment for external transfer students (students not yet enrolled at Bielefeld University) is 15 March for the summer semester and 15 September for the winter semester.
You will be informed of the result of the recognition decision by email and the recognised credits will be registered in the examination management (if necessary only after enrolment). After a change of university, the student counselling service can advise you on starting at the Faculty of Sociology and will be happy to help you draw up a timetable.
