If you would like to bring in credit points for studies and/or examinations outside of the registered degree programme, an application for recognition is mandatory. On this page you will find general information about the recognition process for the various recognition cases as well as the necessary forms for the application.
The Examinations Office for Sociology looks forward to receiving your application for recognition and classification. The deadlines for the application of a confirmation of placement, which you need for enrolment or transfer to another degree programme are: for the summersemester February 15 and for the wintersemester August 15. All other applications can be submitted throughout the year.
The decision on accreditation in all cases is made by Prof. Dr. Oliver Flügel-Martinsen. The contact person in the Faculty of Sociology for applications for recognition for the Bachelor of Sociology is Ms Ilka Sundermann, for all other study programme variants Ms Astrid Dinter. If you have any questions regarding the processing of the application, please contact the student advisory service or the responsible staff member in the examination office. Questions regarding the content, e.g. whether an achievement is suitable for a module, can be directed to Prof. Flügel-Martinsen.

If you have studied in an Erasmus programme, please also submit your signed learning agreement. You will be notified once your application has been processed. We make every effort to process your application quickly. The processing time for applications for recognition may take up to six weeks.
In order to be able to guarantee the timely processing of applications for accreditation (concerns, among others, students changing universities, students changing degree programmes), the application for accreditation must be received by the Examinations Office six weeks before the deadline. However, timely processing does not include the booking of the achievements in the examination administration. s.o.
