Research at the faculty can be summarized in overarching priorities: "Individuality & Interaction", "Sustainability & Resource Efficiency" and "Networks: From Genes to Metabolism to Diversity".
Research Groups
The Faculty of Biology is research-oriented. The research fields of the working groups cover a broad spectrum of innovative biological topics.
Clusters
Interdisciplinary cooperation also within the framework of the "Center for Biotechnology" (CeBiTec) permeates research and teaching. The Collaborative Research Center "NC3" and a research group of the DFG are located at the faculty.
Teaching Units
Some groups and facilities of the faculty are primarily engaged in teaching but also in research activities. Topics mainly derive from the field of ecosystems biology.
