Just over 18 months in, the interview fieldwork of all teams is entering its final phase, while first empirical findings are showing their initial contours. The research teams discussed, among other topics, the comparability of national higher education reforms and their impact on performance measurement, the room accorded to treatment and patient satisfaction metrics in determining quality assessment and financial allocation decisions in the health sector, and the relative robustness of day-to-day operations in the prison sector in the face various regulatory adjustments. In the face of a recent prison crisis and ongoing public health debate in England and regulatory adjustments to the higher education financing system, some of these subjects were particularly topical. The project participants further discussed the room for collaborative article projects; a number of which are already on the way and scheduled for conference presentation later this year.
