Alexandra Kaasch has been Vice-Rector for Science and Society at Bielefeld University since October 2021. As Professor of German and Transnational Social Policy (and previously Junior Professor of Transnational Social Policy), she has been researching and teaching at the Faculty of Sociology since 2014.
After a Studium Generale (Leibniz-Kolleg Tübingen), a Diploma in Political Science (FU Berlin and Marburg) and an MA in European Social Security (KU Leuven), Alexandra Kaasch completed her PhD at the University of Sheffield. She was a post-doctoral researcher at the University of Bremen for several years and a lecturer at the University of Sheffield.
Alexandra Kaasch is a researcher on global and comparative social policy. She works interdisciplinary with approaches from social policy research, international relations, international law and global health policy. She is currently PI in the Research Training Group World Politics and in the Bremen SFB 1342 on Global Dynamics of Social Policy.
