We launched our HR Circle event series in 2022 on the initiative of a number of company representatives. Under the patronage of Prof. Dr Kai Bormann and Dr Jana Bövers from iFUn, we organise a meeting with HR managers from various companies in the region twice a year. Current news and challenges from the companies are highlighted through short scientific and practical inputs and then discussed in a confidential round.

This time, the topic was "Generation mix in the company: Between myth and reality - opportunities and risks of working together in mixed-age teams" took centre stage. Windhorst provided exciting insights into Beckhoff's constantly growing product portfolio and Frederike Beckhoff, assistant to the management and successor to the family business, supplemented these with insider information.
Prof Dr Kai Bormann and Dr Jana Bövers explained why the topic of "generations" is complex and shed light on the influences of age and period effects. An alternative approach from a scientific perspective is to think in terms of life spans.
In addition, Kristin Trede, Sonja Sils and Vivien Petersilie shared their practical experience at Beckhoff with the collaboration of mixed-age teams and the challenges of knowledge transfer during retirement.
Our conclusion: dividing people into generations can be problematic for HR work!

In view of the current challenges facing companies, leadership is more important than ever! But how does (good) leadership work? Under the title "Leadership in transformation - managers as bridge builders and value mediators", we once again discussed this exciting topic as part of our HR Circle.
After an impulse from science on values and leadership by Prof Dr Kai Bormann, Wiebke Schlender and Stefan-Oliver Strate from Cofresco gave exciting insights into their daily work and current developments in the company. We were then able to deepen these impulses at various round tables.
