Bielefelder Lehrer*innenbildung
The application process for the practical phase in the period 13.02.-17.03.2023 is closed. Late registrations are no longer possible.
The theory-in-practice course is part of the introductory module, is completed after the introductory seminar and consists of an accompanying seminar and a school-based practice phase.
Please note: The accompanying seminar starts one or two weeks before the school visit, continues in parallel and ends one week after the school visit. Places in the accompanying seminars are allocated centrally by the Faculty of Educational Science on the basis of your registration for a placement. You will be informed in time by mail. Please note, however, that the exact seminar times will only be announced shortly before the start date of the seminars.
The school-based part of the practical phase comprises 25 internship days and lasts five weeks. Attendance at school is 15 hours per week. These hours are distributed over 5 weekdays. The aim of the theory-in-practice course is an initial theory-guided orientation in the field of action of the school. A focus is also on the reflection of personal aptitude or competence development.
The following rule applies to schools in the cities and districts of Bielefeld, Gütersloh, Herford, Lippe and Minden-Lübbecke: For school-based theory-in-practice courses in the form of a block work placement, places at schools in the region are always recruited and arranged centrally by the Bielefeld School of Education (BiSEd). In order to be able to meet your interests and possibilities, we recruit the schools in the region according to your wishes. When registering (at the bottom of this page), you give us five schools of your choice - we take care of the rest.
Attention: Students who want to complete their practical phase in this region should under no circumstances look for internship places on their own. This would cause them to be dropped from the entire procedure and they would have to repeat the practical phase.
Theory-in-practice courses can also be done outside the mentioned region. If you want to do your theory-in-practice course outside the region BI, GT, HF, LIP, MI, then advertise your place yourself. However, you will still go through the application process below and place a "check mark" in the "theory-in-practice course outside region" box. You will do all the rest of the steps yourself. You also do not need to notify the internship office. At the end of the internship, obtain the certificate from the school at the end of the internship. More bureaucratic effort is not necessary.
If you decide to do a theory-in-practice courseoutside the region, however, it is important to note that you must attend the accompanying seminars in Bielefeld one afternoon a week. These usually start one or two weeks before the start date of the practical phase and end one week after. Equally important, you must go through the registration process to be recorded as attending a companion seminar.
Theory-in-practice courses can also be conducted abroad.
If you would like to complete the theory-in-practice course with aptitude reflection (OPSE) abroad, then you advertise your place yourself. However, you still go through the following registration procedure and put a "check mark" in the field "Theory-in-practice course outside the region". In addition, you will have a counseling interview in the BiSEd working area Internationalization immediately after registration. Here you may receive support in finding an internship and will be registered for the specific accompanying seminar.
More detailed information as well as contact details can be found in the information sheet on the OPSE abroad.
When registering for a theory-in-practice course within the region, please specify five different schools. Select schools so that any (!) of the five is acceptable to you. While the practicum office will attempt to place you at your first priority school, there are times when schools do not provide spaces or provide fewer spaces than are in demand, so we need alternate options for placement.
Your registration is binding after the registration deadline. If you do not know exactly whether you want to do the theory-in-practice course, you may have to re-register. Although this reduces the chances of getting a school according to your wishes, it has nevertheless always been possible to place the pupils in question so far.
Note: until the end of the registration period, you can change your wishes at any time by logging in again.
You may not choose a school that you attended yourself as a pupil (see § 7 LZV). This also applies to schools that are part of a school network or a network school; in this case, you must exclude the network if you were a pupil at one of the schools in the network. This regulation also applies if you carry out your theory-in-practice course outside the region.
In principle, internships/practice courses only take place in conjunction with preparatory/accompanying courses in the individual Subjects. You must therefore first ensure that you get a place in an introductory seminar and then indicate your school preferences. Only students who regularly attend appropriate courses will be placed. Failure to do so will result in exclusion.
Important: For the login you need your Matriculation number and the BIS password you use for the BIS services (e.g. eKVV). In case of problems please have a look at this page.
Why not take a look at the FAQ's or download the info letter for pupils.
If you need to register but your course is missing, please contact the instructor with a request to contact the Internship Office(praktikumsbuero-bised@uni-bielefeld.de). A note to the Internship Office to this effect would be helpful.
