Bielefeld University Library supports the publication of Open Access journals at Bielefeld University by operating a platform called BieJournals. This platform is based on the open source software OJS (Open Journal Systems). BieJournals is a component of Bielefeld University's concept to promote Open Access / Open Science.
The university library operates OJS for various journals and institutions. We manage each journal individually. This enables us to cater to requirements (design, components, etc.) to a great extent.
If you are interested in our OJS services, please contact the Scholarly Publishing Services Support team: ojs.ub@uni-bielefeld.de or +49 521 106-2545
The Journals hosted by the university library as well as general information about OJS can be found on the BieJournals page.
If you want to set up an open access journal, genuine open access publishers such as Public Library of Science(PLOS), BioMed Central, Copernicus Publications, Cogitatio Press or Ubiquity Press may be an option. In principle, almost all publishers offer their services for the publication of Open Access journals.
In addition, the three German National Libraries TIB, ZBMED, ZBW and specialised information services offer the hosting of open access journals that operate without publication fees (Diamond/Platinum Open Access). The DFG-funded Diamond Open Access Service Centre (SeDOA) can advise you on this.
