In the heart of Bielefeld's city centre, there is a new address for presenting research to a wide audience and trying out new formats of science communication.

The university is a research partner of Wissenswerkstadt and cordially invites its researchers to use the space for exchange and dialogue with urban society on their research topics. If you have any questions or ideas, the Science Communication team will be happy to help.

The Bielefeld University market stall

At the "market stall", Bielefeld University's anchor point in the Wissenswerkstadt, visitors can get a taste of the university. The multimedia modules provide information about degree programmes and display current news and offers from the university. Visitors can use the interactive touchscreen to find out more about the university and then put their knowledge to the test in the quiz. The market stall is located in the "Oval", the central room on the ground floor of the Wissenswerkstadt.

Experimental stations of the teutolabs

Ask questions, observe phenomena, understand science: At the teutolabs experiment stations in the Wissenswerkstadt, young researchers can find out the answers to amazing questions for themselves. Exciting hands-on exhibits from the fields of chemistry, physics, biotechnology and maths invite you to explore phenomena from everyday life and your own environment. Visitors can find the experiment stations on the upper floor of the Wissenswerkstadt.

GENIALE 2026

GENIALE is back in a brand new way! Unlike its predecessors, GENIALE 2026 will have one central theme: 'How are we doing?' ('Wie geht's uns'?). From October to November, the Wissenswerkstadt, alongside other venues in Bielefeld, will be hosting various events focusing on this theme which will feature different scholarly perspectives stemming from various research fields.

On October 9, Bielefeld University and Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences and Arts are hosting a joint Campus Day. This event features a wide variety of activities ranging from lectures and guided tours to the 'Children's University,' which encourages age-appropriate playful discovery and learning. All Campus Day activities will take place at Bielefeld University and Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences and Arts.
