DJ Matatu is a vinyl record collector with a passion for soulful sounds from across the Black Atlantic. On this mix, which was broadcasted on Radio station Funkhaus Europa, he invites listeners to get on board for a transatlantic journey: from rare Soul and Funk tunes of the 1960s and early 1970s via Afrobeat, Nuyorican Latin Boogaloo, Cumbia Colombiana, and Brazilian Soul to Afro & Latin urban styles of the 21st century like Rio Baile Funk and Kuduro from Angola... it's all part of the BLACK ATLANTIC BEATZ experience: five decades of heavy grooves from Africa and the African diasporas in the Caribbean, North and Latin America.
