In the Summer 2023 semester, the DAAD exam in English will be offered on a rolling basis.  The exam will be administered online, with 30-minute time slots for the speaking section offered every Monday between 12:00 and 14:00.  You must register 7 days before your desired exam date.   You will receive your test materials via email and will be assigned a time for your speaking exam.

Speaking times slots are limited and are offered on a first come, first served basis.

Please register with your Bielefeld University or Bielefeld Fachhochschule email address. This exam is only available to Universität Bielefeld and Fachhochschule Bielefeld students.

Note: If you sign up for the test but can not attend, please let us know at least 24 hours in advance. If you miss this deadline, you may not sign up for a new test for three months.

Interested parties in all funding or exchange programs who need this proof can register via the DAAD language test registration form or alternatively by e-mail and register for one of the above mentioned dates. If you have further questions or need advice, please contact Georgina Willms from the Fachsprachenzentrum.

During the semester break 2023, the DAAD exam will be held on August 18th and September 1st at 10am, online. The test will run as follows:

On the Wednesday before your scheduled speaking appointment you will receive an email.  This email will include:

  • Information about the writing section, which will consist of a short essay.  You will receive several writing prompts to choose from, and other information you need to complete the writing portion of the exam.  You will have 48 hours to complete this essay.
  • A link to a scientific article that you will be asked to read and analyze.
  • A Zoom link.

The speaking and reading sections will be conducted in the Zoom meeting.  At this meeting you will be asked to discuss the article you’ve read, as well as your general educational plans.  Your reading and speaking scores will be assessed in this meeting.

A few days after your appointment you will receive an email with your certificate.

There is no cost for the exam.

During the semester break, the DAAD exam will be held on August 18th and September 1st.

Beginning with the Winter Semester 2023/24, the DAAD exam will be held one Friday per month. The test will be conducted in person, although you can contact us about the possibility of taking the exam online. The dates for the Winter Semester are as follows:
