It is only by writing your own texts that reading material, collected data, research results and ideas become "knowledge". Starting from this rationale, the Writing Centre has thematised the challenging and often solitary act of writing for over 20 years. We offer a forum for students, researchers and faculty to discuss writing projects, clarify writing tasks, better understand writing processes, plan writing activities and overcome writing blocks.

Students: Find writing advice in the peer mentoring program, skript.um: trained fellow students provide support in completing your writing projects.

Doctoral Students and Postdocs: Take advantage of individual consulting. Discuss and exchange ideas with other research students in our workshops on dissertation writing.

Faculty: Interested in integrating more writing into your teaching? Want to know what writing experts can contribute to your supervising of thesis work.

At present, we are cooperating with nine faculties as part of the project "richtig einsteigen. mit literalen Kompetenzen" (LitKom) (Literary competence in the first year of study). The aim of the project is to enhance introductory courses with reading and writing activities so that students get an early on start in disciplinary thinking and practice.

Founded in 1993, the Writing Centre, which was is the oldest writing centre at a German university. It has since become an integral part of the Center for Teaching and Learning. A founding member of the European Association for the Teaching of Academic Writing (EATAW) and the German equivalent Gesellschaft für Schreibdidaktik und Schreibforschung the Writing Centre is in close contact with university writing programmes in Germany, Europe and the USA
