Background/Objectives:
With the prevention act coming into effect in 2016, long-term care insurances were given a specific prevention task for semi-residential and fully inpatient care facilities. The aim is to sustainably strengthen the residents’ resources and health potentials despite physical and/or mental restrictions by the application of various measures.
The prevention project “aktiviert.GESTÄRKT.zufrieden” (“activated.STRENGTHENED.satisfied”) (sponsor: Verband der Ersatzkassen e.V., association of substitute health insurances) builds on these objectives. In the frame of this plan, five prevention modules are implemented in inpatient care facilities and examined as to their effectiveness. The modules aim at the topic areas of physical activity, strengthening of cognitive resources, nutrition, psychosocial health and prevention of violence. Scientific support to and evaluation of the project are taken over by the Institute for Nursing Science of the Bielefeld University (IPW).
Methods/Results:
The research methods applied for the evaluation comprise various qualitative and quantitative oriented methods. The task is to implement the prevention modules and the relevant established processes and structures as well as to describe and evaluate the effects achieved with the use of the modules. Both a formative and a summative evaluation are conducted. In view of the Covid-19-pandemic, the employment of digital technologies has obtained a particular significance in the prevention project itself and thus for the evaluation as well.
