The Forum Interprofessionalität in der Lehre (Forum IPL) was founded in 2021. The overarching goal is to network educational staff in the healthcare professions to strengthen and implement interprofessional teaching and learning in the region.

Since its foundation, regular meetings have been held to exchange ideas and develop together. This has also resulted in collaborations for interprofessional courses. The most recent meeting of the forum took place on 9 September 2022 at the Medical School OWL on the topic of "Casework".

Our eKommMed.nrw project (e-learning resources for competence-orientated communication training in the healthcare sector in North Rhine-Westphalia) pools the experience of seven North Rhine-Westphalian Faculties of Medicine. The project is being funded as part of the OERContent.nrw sponsor programme.

The aim of the project is to develop OER e-learning offerings (Open Educational Resources) for teaching staff, instructors, lectures and students on communication and dialogue in medical treatment situations. These are to be made available on the state portal ORCA.nrw. One multimedia focus is on interactive videos that can be used in self-study as well as in traditional teaching-learning scenarios and examinations.

Each participating Faculty is responsible for a specific communicative competence area. The team from the Department of Studies and Teaching at the Medical School OWL is developing teaching materials for a basic module on the basics of communication, structuring conversations and communication that can be understood by laypeople.

Bielefeld University, Ruhr-Universität Bochum, Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn, Universität Duisburg-Essen, Heinrich-Heine-Universität Düsseldorf, Universität zu Köln and Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster are involved in the project, along with all KommMed.NRW network partners. The consortium is led by the University of Duisburg-Essen, Prof Dr Sven Benson, graduate psychologist.
