Study Law internationally with the ERASMUS programme: Discover partner universities, gain experience abroad and broaden your horizons.

[automatically translated]
The ERASMUS programme (European Region Action Scheme for the Mobility of University Students), founded in 1987 by the Council of Ministers of the European Union, is intended in particular to promote the mobility of students and lecturers. This is to be achieved primarily by offering study abroad programmes. In addition, there is also the opportunity to complete an internship financially supported by ERASMUS.
As an ERASMUS student, you have the unique opportunity to spend part of your studies at a foreign partner university of Bielefeld University. You receive financial support from the EU and a lot of organisational and professional support from both the home university and the host university.
With the support of the International Office and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), it is also possible to organise your own stay at a European or other international university.
Please note the information on the semester off and the foreign language certificate from the Hamm Judicial Examination Office!
Welcome to Bielefeld Faculty of Law!
You can find the individual language requirements here.
Not sure if you can fulfil them? Just come to our consultation hours and we'll work out a solution together. We also refer you to the Foreign Language Centre at Bielefeld University.
The Universidad de Burgos (Spain) in particular, but also many other partner universities encourage and welcome applications from people with disabilities.
Licence or Maitre in one year
Would you like to make the most of your stay abroad and have a French degree in your pocket in addition to your state exam(ination)?
There is a special ERASMUS agreement between Bielefeld University and the Université Lorraine in Metz, which enables you to obtain a French university degree during your ERASMUS stay if you have completed the specialised foreign language training (FFA) in French at Bielefeld.
Licence en droits privas françis et allemand
The Licence is the regular degree of the first French study phase, the French designation of the European Bachelor's degree. If you have successfully completed the four-semester FFA in Bielefeld, you can enter the third year of study in Metz (L3, 5th and 6th semesters) and obtain the Licence within two semesters, e.g. as part of an ERASMUS stay.
With a licence, you can take the bar exam or most entrance exams as a lawyer in the French administration, for example at the école nationale d'administration (ENA), the training ground for the French civil service career.
In terms of content, the Licence en droits français privé et allemand is unique in France, as it is also co-organised by German university professors from Trier and Sarrebruck for example.
Prerequisites:
- Successful completion of the FFA at Bielefeld University (four semesters)
Maitre en droit
Master 2 droit des collectivités territoriales et coopération transfrontalière
The Maitre en droit is the French university degree that law students receive after five years of study. It entitles you to a doctorate and is an internationally recognised legal title. To obtain a French Maitre, you would normally have to have obtained the French Licence first. However, if you are studying at Bielefeld University and have successfully completed the French FFA and the specialisation programme, these achievements will be counted as equivalent and you can obtain a French Master's degree in two semesters.
You can choose between two models on site: the Maitre de recherche supplements the final examination with a thesis, the Maitre professionnel supplements the final examination with an internship.
The Maitre is completed in the field of municipal law and cross-border cooperation. You can find more information here.
Prerequisites:
- Successfully completed FFA at Bielefeld University (four semesters)
- Successfully completed specialisation studies or successfully completed the state part of the exam
