Moritz Blum studied Cognitive Informatics at the Bachelor's and Intelligent Systems at the Master's level at the Bielefeld University. After a semester abroad at Aarhus University, he wrote his master thesis in the Semantic Computing Group under the supervision of Basil Ell.
Since the beginning of 2021 he is a PhD student in the Semantic Computing Group and is working on connecting structured and unstructured data. Specifically, it is about connecting knowledge graphs and measurement data. His research questions include: How can machine learning methods that work on structured data incorporate unstructured data? What are suitable hybrid knowledge representations, and what are their advantages and disadvantages? Keywords: Neural Symbolic Integration and Graph Machine Learning. Furthermore, Moritz Blum is responsible for the development of an ontology for the digitalization of material sciences in the interdisciplinary project DiProMag.
