Practical tutorials and seminars

Practical tutorials (in connection with lecture/seminar)

In the Master's degree programme, so-called practical tutorials (Pܜ) are regularly offered by lecturers from regional companies. They impart practical expertise and offer students the opportunity to combine theory and practice in the interests of the company. The following courses are examples:

  • WS 2020/21: HR work with the Harting Group
  • WS 2019/20: Recruitment rede fined with the Piening Group. "Recruitment redefined" was the title of this Pܜ. The Piening Group (represented by Temporary Lecturers Tatjana Galitzki, Katrin Brast & Manuel Schlichting) was interested in how potential contacts for their positions are currently orientated.
  • SS 2019: Academic entry programmes at Miele. Temporary Lecturer Marc Sundermann had the students evaluate their academic entry programmes as part of the Pܜ.
  • WS 2018/19: International HR management at the August Storck Group (lecturer: Benjamin Ludwig).
  • SS 2018: Employer branding and trade fair appearances with Harting, PhoenixContact and Beckhoff
  • WS 2013/14: Employer branding at Goldbeck, Goldbeck Group. The task was to work on selected social media approaches to the topic of "Employer Branding" with the lecturers and in small groups. This gave the participants the opportunity to apply the skills they had learnt and deepened during their studies, as well as providing an insight into Goldbeck GmbH's HR work. Temporary Lecturer: Jürgen Eggers with the support of Katharina Jedras and Kamila Miosga.
  • WS 2011/12: Talent management at Dr. Oetker. Dirk Schlautmann discussed the current talent management programme of the Dr. Oetker Group with the students as a lecturer.
  • SS 2011: Entrepreneurs in OWL with the nw. In cooperation with the region's highest-circulation daily newspaper, the"Neue Westfälische", the students created a total of six portraits of entrepreneurs from East Westphalia based on interviews they conducted themselves. The deputy editor-in-chief Carsten Heil and the head of the business department Stefan Schelp taught the students basic journalistic skills and also introduced the students to everyday editorial work. Profiles of Dr Wolfgang Böllhoff, Frank Seidensticker, Dr Andreas Hettich, Dr Christian Schäferbarthold, Dr Rene Pankoke and Maresa Harting-Hertz.

Practical seminars

As part of master's seminars (formats in which students prepare scientifically based seminar papers on given topics), we have occasionally worked together with companies in the "OWL" region or with HR managers from these companies. In these contexts, the students have carried out empirical studies in the companies, made theory-practice comparisons, evaluated practical concepts and similar. In general, the results were presented to a larger group of interested parties in the companies. Our co-operation partners were
