In the Master's degree programme, so-called practical tutorials (PÜ) are regularly offered by lecturers from regional companies. They impart practical expertise and offer students the opportunity to combine theory and practice in the interests of the company. The following courses are examples:
SS 2011: Entrepreneurs in OWL with the nw. In cooperation with the region's highest-circulation daily newspaper, the"Neue Westfälische", the students created a total of six portraits of entrepreneurs from East Westphalia based on interviews they conducted themselves. The deputy editor-in-chief Carsten Heil and the head of the business department Stefan Schelp taught the students basic journalistic skills and also introduced the students to everyday editorial work. As part of master's seminars (formats in which students prepare scientifically based seminar papers on given topics), we have occasionally worked together with companies in the "OWL" region or with HR managers from these companies. In these contexts, the students have carried out empirical studies in the companies, made theory-practice comparisons, evaluated practical concepts and similar.
