Persistent uncertainty is a hallmark of today’s societies, evident in financial speculations and crises, climate change, health, pandemics and pension system stability. The QUAMU focus area develops new methods in decision theory, economics, mathematics and statistics to deal with new challenges coming from data science, sports, and biology by quantifying and managing uncertainties.
QUAMU is build around the IMW and several large third-party funded projects: The Research Training Group 2865 CUDE, “Coping with Uncertainty in Dynamic Economies”, the Collaborative Research Center 1283, “Taming Uncertainty” and the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Action EPOC (Economic Policy in Complex Environments).
