About us

By connecting existing mathematical research projects at Bielefeld University, the initiative aims to:
  1. advance in key mathematical, societal, and technological challenges by developing and using novel synergies within the mathematical disciplines and adjacent fields, namely data science, economics, and physics.
  2. develop a foundational approach to mathematics in the sciences with two main aspects:
    • identification of new mathematical structures within areas of application
    • transfer of methods and insight from these applied fields to the mathematical core, spurring (inner-)mathematical innovation and guiding intuition-building.
