Since the winter semester 2022/2023, Bielefeld University has offered the interdisciplinary course "Open Minds for Open Science - An Interdisciplinary Introduction to Open Science", which has taken place a total of four times to date. The aim of this course is to offer a seminar in which students are familiarised with the various aspects of this topic. In terms of content, the focus will be on the following topics, among others: dealing with open data, open access publishing, data protection, open educational resources, data management and versioning. In this way, the up-and-coming generation of scientists will be familiarised with the topic of open science, its sub-areas, the established open practices and technologies during their studies.
In this way, we are remedying a status quo in which most young researchers only come into contact with the topic during their research work and have to learn a lot on the side. The seminar can be enrolled in the "Data Literacy - Cultural Techniques of the 21st Century" module in the Individual Supplementary Programme.
For this project, we are still looking for Co-Creators who will help us to design and develop the seminar and who may also be willing to take on individual teaching appointments at a later date (of course, one does not imply any obligation for the other). If you are interested in helping to shape this teaching offer or would simply like to find out more, please feel free to contact us at osn@uni-bielefeld.de.
