You would like to study at Bielefeld University? You already have a first degree from your home country or wish to continue your studies at our university? Here you will find an overview of the requirements to study at Bielefeld University.

Informational Events

At the beginning of the application period we offer informational events to answer your questions regarding to the application process.

The informational events for the winter term 2021/22 have already taken place. The dates for the events for summer term 2022 will follow soon.

Academic requirements

  • School-leaving certificate (German: Abitur) and/or
  • University certificates (diploma/degree/transcript of records)

If you are not sure, if your previous degree enables you to study at a German university, you may also check out the Infoportal anabin.

Language requirements

  • DSH-2
  • TestDaF 4x4
  • Telc C1 Hochschule
  • Feststellungsprüfung (Studienkolleg)

For a Bachelor program you need to apply via uni-assist. The application deadline is July 31st for the winter semester 2020/2021 and January 15th for the summer semester.

But: If you are already enrolled as a student at Bielefeld University, it is sufficient to submit an application form to the Student Office.

For a Master program you need to apply directly via the university website.

The application portal is open from June 1st to July 31st for the winter semester 2020/2021 and from December 1st to January 15th for the summer semester.
