The office of university lecturer has a special status in terms of civil service law, as university lecturers are usually civil servants for life and at the same time holders of academic freedom. Due to this dual position, professorial employment law differs considerably from that of other civil servants.
The performance of central tasks in research and teaching is protected by academic freedom. Knowledge of the special status under employment law, the rights and obligations as well as the official duties is of great practical importance for first-time professors, but also for university lecturers already in office. The online seminar serves as an orientation on the rights and obligations as a university lecturer - even beyond the "first 100 days" in office.
