Prof. Dr. Sabine Doff and Dr. Katharina Ludewig | joint appointment search coordinated with your upcoming negotiations and appointments | Zoom

Description

Junior and tenure-track professors are faced with the specific challenge of positioning themselves in a historically evolved university and professional environment. In this context, power constellations play just as much a role as the question of how to move confidently "in the academic arena".

Against this background, this format is aimed at (tenure-track) professors who would like to consciously examine their own (supra-) disciplinary and university-political positioning. We also address those who would like to learn and practice negotiation techniques - always keeping an eye on individual needs and deadlines.

Contents

  • What is important to me and why? - Overarching goals and needs in career planning
  • Which style suits me? - Negotiation styles and techniques
  • Who is sitting opposite me? - Change of perspective and appropriate communication tools
  • How do I actually know that...? - Dealing with unwritten laws
  • What do I do if...? - Staying confident in difficult situations and dealing with fear

In a customized mix of

  • 2 group coaching sessions,
  • 4 self-study modules on our online campus,
  • 2 needs-oriented, individual one-on-one coaching sessions
  • frequent e-mail support "when things are burning",
  • regular office hours and 2 one-to-one sessions to accompany you in a trusting environment.

Duration and mode of operation: The program lasts 3 months, during which structured and solution-oriented work is done as needed and 'just-in-time' (important negotiations, presentations, speeches and committee meetings). The 2 trainers are very familiar with the specifics of academia, do not speak in business phrases and develop suitable and pragmatic strategies with the participants in coordination with individual milestones and deadlines.
