Selection process

In principle, the selection processes at Bielefeld University are standardised. However, due to the decentralised organisation of the university, there may be individual deviations.

Bielefeld University attaches great importance to the implementation of gender-equitable recruitment procedures and uses numerous instruments to recruit women in areas where they are underrepresented.

Have you found a position that matches your profile? Then apply quickly and easily using the online application button in the advert. For positions without an application button, we prefer to accept applications by email. Information on this can be found in the respective job opportunities.

The salary is based on the collective labour agreement (TV-L). The "E" stands for the pay group with which the advertised position is graded. Within a pay group there are so-called experience levels (1-6), which are based on professional experience. The corresponding pay can be derived from the pay group and level assignment. A complete application must include at least

  • a cover letter
  • a curriculum vitae
  • all certificates ((appointment) diplomas, university certificates, work and interim references, etc.)

Depending on the job advert, additional documents such as letters of reference or work samples may also be useful. If necessary, this will be indicated in the job advertisements.

After the deadline for applications, all applications received will be checked against the requirements profile.

We always endeavour to review all applications as quickly as possible. As we have high standards for the review process, this takes some time. If this process is delayed, you will usually receive an interim message from us.

Selection interviews can take place in person on the premises of Bielefeld University or online as a video interview (usually via Zoom).
