The Faculty of Business Administration and Economics seeks to appoint a

Professor (W2 with tenure track to W3 or W3) for Managerial Accounting and Business Taxation

in the Winter Semester 2023/24.

Candidates should have a proven scientific track record in the area of Business Administration, in particular Managerial Accounting and German Business Taxation through publications in leading scientific journals.

The candidate is expected to integrate themselves in the areas of Accounting, Taxes and Finance, and be willing to engage with other existing research priorities of the Faculty, for example in the areas of Data Science, Smart Products/Services, or Family-owned enterprises. Furthermore, it is expected that the candidate will actively participate in existing and planned national and international joint research projects of the Faculty of Business Administration and Economics, as well as with other faculties. The candidate should show clear potential for the successful procurement and execution of third-party funded projects.

The professorship is responsible for teaching at the Bachelor and Master level in the Faculty of Business Administration and Economics in the subjects of Managerial Accounting and Business Taxation. In addition, the candidate is expected to teach in the Bielefeld Graduate School of Economics and Management. Experience with structured graduate education and the supervision of doctoral candidates is desired.

The hiring requirements of the position are, according to § 36 HG NRW, a completed university degree in an appropriate subject; an exceptional ability to perform scientific work, as proven by the quality of the candidate’s doctoral thesis; pedagogical qualifications, as proven by suitable teaching activities, or, in exceptional cases, as determined in the course of the interview; and additional scientific accomplishments that will be exclusively and comprehensively evaluated over the course of the interview process.

In the case of an appointment as a W2-Professorship, recruitment is initially limited to five years; following appointment, a target agreement will be formulated. In case of a positive evaluation in the final year, the appointment will be transferred to an indefinite W3-Professorship. The tenure evaluation procedures are regulated in the statutes concerning the implementation of W2-Professorships with Tenure Track. W2-Tenure-Track-Professorships are firmly established at Bielefeld University as an appointment option. Tenure-Track-Professors (f/m) are offered a target group specific personnel development programme that provides support during the arrival phase and the preparation of the tenure evaluation.

Candidates that do not speak German as their native language must be capable of holding lectures in German in addition to lectures in English within three years of hiring.

Applications from suitably qualified handicapped and severely handicapped people are explicitly encouraged.
