Online-Workshop:

Plan, think, decide — and get your research writing done!

Dr. Vera Leberecht | February 19th & 20th 2024 | 10:00 a.m. (s.t.) - 05:00 p.m. (1st day), 09:30 a.m. (s.t.) - 04:30 p.m. | Zoom-Link: t.b.a.

Writing a dissertation is a marathon, not a sprint. To reach the finish line, you need to be curious, motivated — and persistent. This two-day, hands-on online writing training camp equips you to plan, organise, and finish your dissertation more efficiently.

On day 1, we look at the bigger picture. We

  • take inventory of your experiences — good or bad — with academic/scientific writing,
  • experiment with strategies to organise ideas and structure texts,
  • give and receive productive text feedback,
  • think about how to plan more realistically, and
  • JUST WRITE!

On day 2, we get down to the academic work floor and

  • get started — yet again!
  • look at a little bit of theory on research and writing processes,
  • put the theory into practice, and
  • JUST WRITE!

This workshop is mainly aimed at young researchers who don’t speak enough German to attend a writing workshop in German. Please note that the training camp is interactive, and you are expected to be visibly present during the plenary sessions at least.

This is an opportunity to network with fellow young researchers, and to share experiences. Please note that your registration is binding, as the number of places available is limited. If you have to withdraw your registration due to other obligations, please let us know in time so someone else can take your place. Thanks for your cooperation!

Methods:

Individual reflection, writing tasks, small-group work, plenary discussions, peer feedback, and trainer input.

Trainer:

Dr. Vera Leberecht (Maastricht/NL) studied Linguistics, Intercultural Communication and Theology in Germany and Finland. She worked at Maastricht University Language Centre for several years before starting her own training and consulting business in 2008. She is enthusiastic about empowering professionals to communicate with reason and resonance, in academia and beyond.
