Mission Statement

The Bielefeld Graduate School in History and Sociology (BGHS) is a place of academic research, learning and exchange. It thrives on its interdisciplinarity and internationality. At the BGHS, researchers and their doctoral theses should find an academic home - regardless of their social or cultural background, their religion or nationality, their gender identity or sexual orientation. The BGHS contributes to a gender-equitable academic and university culture. It upholds academic integrity. At the BGHS, a participatory culture of discussion and dialogue is practised that is characterised by intellectual openness and freedom for personal development.
